World Health Organization Declares African Country Cabo Verde Malaria-Free

Did you know that some countries have successfully eradicated the disease called malaria? The Republic of Cabo Verde also known as Cape Verde has been declared by world Health Organization (WHO) as malaria-Free. This makes it the third African country joining Algeria and Mauritius and the 43rd in the world to zap the disease. WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, on Friday, hailed the government and people of Cabo Verde for their unwavering commitment and resilience in their journey to eliminating malaria. He stated that WHO’s certification of Cabo Verde being malaria-free is testament to the power of strategic public health planning, collaboration, and sustained effort to protect and promote health.
